Our Story
James and Sheli Tsun purchased an existing denture clinic in South Melbourne in 2011 but within 2 years we realised that we wanted to take our business to the next level so we re-located to our current premise in Windsor. We had a name change to Melbourne Smiles Denture Clinic where we continue to grow and develop our dreams. We have a fantastic team of dental professionals who are all dedicated in creating high quality appliances that go to our patients and Dentists that we work with.
We’ve taken the next leap in 2020 where we are branching out our onsite dental laboratory with a brand re-fresh to be called Melbourne Smiles Dental Laboratory. The best part about this is that nothing really changes but our new laboratory name is reflecting what our laboratory is actually producing on a daily basis for some years already – a Full Service dental laboratory that can service Dentists Australia Wide for all their dental needs: Prosthetics; Custom Mouthguards; Orthodonic appliances; Crown and Bridge; Sleep Apnea Devices; Implants; All on four treatments; CAD/CAM Digital and more.
Our team has substantially grown since our humble beginnings and we’re excited for what the future holds by staying loyal to our values; creating great quality appliances; providing excellent customer service and being proud of what we produce to you!

Meet James
Dental Prosthetist / Director
James Tsun has been a Dental Prosthetist for over 9 years but has worked within the dental industry for over 15 years in total. James qualified from the advanced diploma in dental prosthetics from RMIT in 2010 and was trained in a very reputable Melbourne laboratory but always knew he wanted to work for himself to provide high quality service and products.
He is extremely passionate about how dental appliances are made so you’ll often find him researching about new technologies in his spare time and loves talking about anything and everything dental related. James is proud that Melbourne Smiles makes everything in Australia and supports other local Australian businesses for our laboratory supplies. He is kind, loyal, an understanding person and has a very patient approach to working with dentists across Australia as he always wants to go above and beyond for them. You will always be valued when you join our team.
James is a father to two young School boys, has a French bulldog and loves staying fit by playing basketball and going to the gym. He is fluent in Russian and likes to dabble in other languages.
Meet Sheli
Business Manager
Sheli Tsun did not initially join Melbourne Smiles with technical or practical experience within the dental industry but her main focus has always been on service, building strong long lasting relationships, making the Dentists life easier by consolidating dental suppliers to ensure better buying power, better time management, improved quality and trust in your dental laboratory.
Sheli has over 20 years working experience in Sales, Strategic Account Management, Business Development, Social Media Management and so much more. Her love for the dental industry has grown over the years and really enjoys meeting new people; learning about the difficulties the dental practices are experiencing and then implementing ways to “fix” your problems. At Melbourne Smiles we really do offer great service from the first point of contact through to the laboratory side.
